FAQ

Will Flashback take up lots of space on my drive?

Absolutely not, currently flashback is less than 0.5Mb

What are the system requirements?

The user must be running Windows XP or Vista for the program to run automaticlly however it will not cause errors if the drive is used under older versions of windows, Linux, Mac or UNIX.

What if somebody finds the drive but it is not marked as lost?

That's fine. There is a button that can be clicked if it is found, that still shows your details

When is my name and address shown?

It is shown when your drive is marked as lost or has been found. It is, therefore, recommended that you use a care of (c/o) address such as the place you work (eg. c/o Company name, Street, Town, Postcode)

Is an internet connection essential?

Flashback needs to connect to the internet to check if the drive is lost. However it will remember its last "lost state" so if it was marked as lost when it was last connected to the internet it will remain lost until it is marked as found and connected to the internet. Also it keeps a backup of your details, so if the drive is found (but there is not internet connection) the finder can still click "click if found"

What types of drive will flashback run on?

Flashback will run on any portable drive including flash drives, thumb drives, microvaults, portable/ external hard drives and pen drives.

How do I sign up?

Simple, just download the software HERE, and follow the installation instructions HERE. Your account is created as you install the software on your drive

I have more than one drive - do I need several accounts?

No, one user account can have any number of drives on it. Just click "I Have A Flashback Account and Want to Add this Drive To It" and follow the on screen instructions when you register the drive

What if the finder of the drive is not honest?

Sadly there are some people like that out there, however most will send your drive back and if they don't at least you know you tried

Why did you make flashback?

Because I believe that there are enough honest people in the world who will return your flash drive to you as long as they know whose it is. Flashback does this by only alerting them if the drive is lost, therefore it is transparent during normal use.

Are there any knows faults?

No, not at this time
